2014 in Review!

Well, it is obvious I have done a very poor, poor job in maintaining this blog this year.  But my favorite posts to go look back on here are the 'year in review' ones, so selfishly, I'm going to at least keep that up! ;-)

2014 was a great year, which went by very quickly!  Here's what I remember most:

  • Snopocalypse of 2014!  We got a TON of snow right after New Year's, and then it turned bitterly cold… I think school was cancelled for 3 straight days!  This would have been unheard of when I was in school (or when Noah likes to refer to as 'the olden' days' ;-))!  We did have fun in the snow before it got too cold:

  • As February came, we were DONE with the snow, and luckily, we had our first family vacation to Disney World!  It was even unusually hotter than normal there, which was a bonus for us :)  We had an awesome time, but 3 1/2 may not have been the ideal age to bring Adam - he was scared of mostly everything.  Hopefully he'll enjoy it more when we go back in a few years!

  • Noah turned 6 and graduated from Kindergarten!  I quickly discovered that 6 year olds can do just about everything - he is the best helper, and can do mostly everything by himself, including ride his bike.  This did take a little bit of persuasion, though… while we were on vacation at the end of August, we saw a Facebook post showing his friends Anna and Ian across the street learning how to ride their bikes.  Up until this point, he was scared of even taking off the training wheels, but as soon as we got back, he marched across the street, telling us they were going to teach him.  We took off the training wheels, he sat on, and just started pedaling!  A summer miracle!

  • For the first time ever, the boys got to stay home all summer, and didn't have to go to daycare.  They had the best summer with their nanny Miss Andrea - they went somewhere just about every day!  They still mention her at least once a week, and miss her a lot!

  • After their fun summer, the boys went back to school.  Adam started a new school - Miss Donna's - which he absolutely loves.  It is perfect for him, we feel so lucky to be able to send him there! You can keep up with him during the year… Miss Donna sends us pictures occasionally, which we post to Flickr (there's a link on the right side of this page: 'Adam @ Preschool').  Noah started 1st grade, and is actually in a 1st/2nd split class, so he is meeting a lot of new kids.  He's doing well, and loves to read :)
  •  As you can see from below, the boys had very unrelated costumes for Halloween this year!  Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, the weather was terrible, but that did not stop them from trick or treating.  Noah bailed about 3/4 through the neighborhood, but shockingly, Adam made it all the way around!  That puppy costume probably kept him pretty toasty!

  • As for the obsessions this year, Noah's early on was Legos, but has now been joined by Minecraft (which I don't think I'll ever understand!).  Adam LOVED 'Frozen', especially Olaf, as can be easily guessed by looking at his room, toys, and clothing!  They both really like watching 'Star Wars Rebels' with Scott too :)
Finally, here are the end of year videos I created for each of our families:

We hope everyone had a good 2014, as well!  2015 *should* mark the completion of a major house project around here… I'll have to update before the end of the year when that happens :)  It will also be the first time Scott and I will be taking a vacation without the kids… I know we will miss them, but I'm already thinking of the hours and hours of sleep I will get!
