The year got off to an excellent start with Scott and I taking a short trip to Florida in January (Scott’s parents stayed with the boys, in what would be a dry run for our 2 week extravaganza in May… more on that in a bit!) I headed to Vegas at the end of the month for a work conference, while Scott took Adam to a ‘sock hop’ at his school, where he placed in a hula hoop contest! Who knew!?!?
The winter was very busy with Noah’s high school robotics team… they made it to the State Championship, then did well enough there to make it to the World Championship in Houston in April. Scott went with him, and other than a terrible trip home that included an 8 hour layover in LA, they had a great time!
For milestones, I celebrated my 20 year anniversary at
RouteOne in February, and Scott and I celebrated our 20 year wedding
anniversary in April. To celebrate the
latter, we took an 11 day trip to Hawaii (Maui specifically – luckily before
the fires). We had an amazing time, with
a condo on the ocean – lots of relaxing and sight-seeing. Pictures here!
While we were in Hawaii, Noah was finishing up his first
phase of Driver’s Ed. He’s on target to
get his license next April when he turns 16, and there has definitely been
improvement since he began!
At the end of May, I took a work trip to San Francisco where
I got to test drive a Tesla (going from 0 – 60 mph in a couple of seconds is
wild, as is autonomous driving on a freeway!), and tour Alcatraz.
Summer brought trips Up North, our annual trip to South Haven, and Noah’s first job (at a catering company that funny enough, catered his baby shower back in 2008!). It also brought Adam’s 13th birthday, giving us two teenagers in the house. We celebrated with go-karting, a trip to Dave & Buster’s, and a visit to the Apple Store for his first phone J
Both boys started up school again in August, and we
discovered this fall that Adam really needed glasses… whoops! He also decided to take a break from piano
lessons, and has started learning the trumpet.
Finally, the most exciting news is that we got our master
bathroom renovated… there was a big difference in the before and after - we are
loving it!
